  • Ivory Coast – AIP / More than 100 T of cashew nuts collected in a grouped sale in Mankono 05/15/2023

    May 15th, 2023

More than 100 T of cashew nuts were collected by the agricultural cooperative society Sekongo Pangninninga-S (CASP-S) during a group sale organized by the regional delegation of the Cotton Council and cashew (CCA). According to the regional delegate of the CCA, Coulibaly Sandona, this purchase at the approved price of 315 FCFA/kg made it possible to withdraw producers from residual stocks, within the framework of support for the agricultural sector. This group sale follows the finding that "crooked" buyers would not respect the price set by the State, according to the CCA delegate who added that the operation allows accredited buyers to make their purchases at the official price of 315 FCFA . He therefore insisted on the storage conditions of the products which could affect their quality. “We need to adopt good agricultural practices. Avoid selling a wet product. It must be dried well, sorted well and kept in the jute bags that the Cotton and Cashew Council gave you. Also avoid collaborating with crooked buyers,” he advised producers during the bulk sale. The raw cashew nut purchase operation will continue with other buyers in Mankono and other departments in the Béré region, the regional delegate announced. The producers expressed their joy and congratulated this initiative which, according to them, contributes to the influence of the sector. "We must congratulate the State of Côte d'Ivoire, which is making efforts to keep the sector going," said Fofana Bakary, a cashew nut producer in Mankono.
